Task

Proof of component safety of planet carriers at low temperatures (planet carriers are made of high-strength cast iron GJS 700 with low ductility to save weight)

Goal

Development of a simple method and a VDMA guideline for the practical implementation of a safety analysis

Path

Adaptation of fracture mechanics methods according to British Standard (BS7910) for the static and dynamic (cyclic) verification and definition of adapted boundary conditions for this verification; conversion of the methodology into a VDMA guideline (project implementation in cooperation with the VDMA Working Group Planet Carriers)
