Mining solidarity is essential underground. We were able to understand this even better during the foreman’s tour at the Energeticon in Alsdorf. Transported back about a century, we experienced firsthand what coal mining was like at the beginning of the 20th century. Even if only a few meters underground in the educational tunnel of the Adventure Museum, which is now located on the site of the former Anna mine.
As steel experts, we are constantly dealing with the topic of energy industry infrastructure (pipelines, power lines, pressure vessels, steel production), so we found it particularly interesting to experience the topic of “from the sun to the sun,” starting with fossil fuels and moving on to renewable energies.

“Der große Pinsel”, “The Big Brush” was used for tunneling. From 1978 until the closure of the Anna mine, it covered a total length of 22 kilometers.
