In the course of the IGF-funded research project iFrakto, led by BAM and GFaI e.V., IWT-Solutions AG successfully participated in the round robin test for the manual classification of microscopic fracture features.

47 fracture surfaces of various metallic materials generated in the SEM were fractographically evaluated by a total of 26 participating companies and institutions.

The generated fractographic information serves as a training basis for a classifier to be developed in this project, which is to support the future fractographic evaluation of fracture surfaces by means of 3D data and intelligent pattern recognition.
