“Manual Classification of Microscopic Fracture Characteristics” Round-robin Test

As part of the IGF-funded research project iFrakto, led by BAM and GFaI e.V., IWT-Solutions AG successfully participated in the round-robin test for the manual classification of microscopic fracture characteristics.

In this study, 47 SEM-generated fracture surfaces of various metallic materials were fractographically evaluated by a total of 26 participating companies and institutions.

The generated fractographic information serves as a training basis for a classifier to be developed in this project, which will support the future fractographic evaluation of fracture surfaces using 3D data and intelligent pattern recognition.
